Indoor Market in Pont-à-Mousson

brief description:

This indoor market is situated on one of the most ancient city squares in Pont-à-Mousson, in the same spot where the Hôpital Notre Dame stood in the 13th century. In 1914, plans were made to build an indoor market but had to be shelved for the time being due to the onset of World War I. Although the indoor market, as it exists today, was completed in 1925, the building had to undergo extensive renovations and transformations after World War II. The roof, the glass windows and the façade were renewed and altered, thus giving the indoor market a more modern look. With its steel skeleton structure and its large window and roof surface area made entirely of glass, it offers a magnificent view of the river Moselle, which runs behind the building.
