Saarlouis Old Town

pictures

description

brief description:

pedestrian zone with cobblestone pavement in the heart of the city. Lively area with numerous pubs, restaurants and cafés, which during the summer have their tables and chairs out in front. The old town has preserved some of the typical two-storeyed artisan homes (dating back to the time when Saarlouis was a fortified city), characterised by a row of narrow facades with French shutters and mansard roofs. There are also a number of bourgeois homes, built at the turn of the 19th century. The Old Town has been entirely and lovingly restored.
