Celtic Settlement near Niedaltdorf

pictures

description

brief description:

archeologically documented burial mounds in the Franco-German border area bear witness to the fact that Celtic tribes used to populate the valley of the river Nied. The reconstruction of a typical Celtic settlement in a wooded area near Siersburg illustrates what life may have been like over 2000 years ago. Surrounded by a wooden fence, the recreated farmstead includes a thatched dwelling house and a stilted storage shed with a wood-shingle roof. The buildings are made of wood and plastered with a mix of straw and clay.
