Nestled in the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, right on the border between France and Germany, the founders of Saarland Therme thought up a unique oasis of relaxation, inspired by the Mediterranean South, the architecture following Moorish and Andalusian styles. Spa visitors can bath in pools that are filled with 30° to 36° C warm thermal and mineral water for the complete relaxation of body, mind and soul. All of the pools are fed by the naturally warm, mineral-rich waters from a thermal spring some 300 metres away. Saarland Therme offers various indoor and outdoor pools that feature a number of water attractions such as massage jets, bubbly jets, air seats, neck showers, and a lazy river in the outdoor pool. On balmy sunny days, when the Saarland Therme opens its glass roof, facing in a south-westerly direction, the indoor pool becomes an outdoor pool. From the 36°C hot, cascade-shaped whirlpool, visitors can let their gaze wander across the spa and pool landscape to the bucolic landscape of rural Lorraine. The precious thermal water stems from the Saarland Therme's own spring. It contains several minerals, the most concentrated being fluoride, natrium, calcium, chloride and sulphate. Originating from a well which is 750 metres deep, the thermal water has been recognised by the Institut Fresenius, one of Germany's biggest environmental laboratories, to have healing effects. The water is recommended for bathing, drinking and inhalation. It is also beneficial to people suffering from rheumatic diseases, degenerative joint and spine diseases, post treatment of injuries and operations, etc. The ample sauna area includes eight saunas including an Arabic sauna, an Andalusian aromatic steam sauna, a very hot stone sauna, relaxation pools, a ladies-only area, as well as a mixed sauna featuring a steam bath, a textile sauna and a textile steam bath. Moreover, this zone features a lounge and massage rooms.
